CIMA is chartered institute of management accounting. So the focus is on management accounting. It is a professional qualification with global recognition though since it originated in UK, it is more popular with European companies. It is different from CA since the focus is more on helping take strategic business decision and is more rounded in its approach. So if you are someone who wanted to make a career in accounting and could not do a CA, it can provide you an alternative path.

It is very different from CFA where the focus is largely on investment analysis. CFA is more useful and better recognized for capital markets careers especially in equities and for areas such as equity research.
