Dear @
I am an MBA with dual specialization in Marketing and Financial Services and worked as an assistant manager for almost two years in one of the most reputed private sector retail bank in India .
However last year i have decided to work in the field of investment analysis and management.
In pursuit of the desired job i quit my job last year and sat for CFA Level 1 exam which i passed, other than that i got certified by NCFM in Equity Research module and have enrolled for the financial modeling module of NCFM in the month of Feb 2011
After considering my background can someone suggest me the kind of job i should look for and the right path to do that ?

hi,
You are doing most things right on your part. Just be aware that breaking into equity research/investment banking/private equity or similar areas is tough and you will need to build a track record even if you have CFA and modeling skills. Start looking for jobs that will give you similar work experience even if they dont sound as hot or dont reward as much e.g. credit rating/credit appraisal with rating agencies and banks. You can also look for some KPO that essentially do outsourced jobs for equity research outfits abroad. Another place to begin is small brokerage firms who also have their own small research teams; there are many in Fort area in mumbai. You also need to start networking. Spend as much time meeting analysts/friends/managers in these companies as much as you spend studying.
