The Level I of the CFA® Program tests your understanding of the basics of investment valuation. Level II of the CFA® Program begins to test your ability to put that understanding to practical use. You will be presented with real-life scenarios and be asked to put your knowledge of investment management and portfolio concepts to the test.

Level II of the CFA® Program exam is a multiple-choice exam, like Level I of the CFA® Program. These questions are divided into question sets, and you will be tested on half of the item sets in the morning and a half in the afternoon. For each item set, you will be provided information, and the questions will require you to use the information provided to solve them.

Yes, it is perfectly fine. I self-studied for all 3 levels of my CFA® Program exams, with a basic study notes package from Kaplan Schweser and tons of practice papers.

You’ll need to spend time with Level II of the CFA® Program to understand the materials and make time for practice tests.

Discipline is definitely an important factor for those who self-study as Level II of the CFA® Program candidates need to do this very consistently to increase chances of passing.

The general consensus is that you should dedicate a minimum of 300 hours to studying for Level II of the CFA® Program. In CFA Institute June 2017  CFA® Program Candidate Survey, respondents reported spending an average of 328 hours preparing for Level II of the CFA® Program exam. Typically, candidates will spread that time over a 6-month period, which averages out to about 12.5 hours per week. However, some candidates do not begin studying as early and compress their study time into a shorter window. How intense your study schedule is dependent on how early you begin preparing.

Results of CFA Level 2 are generally announced approximately 2 months after the exam. For example, if you attempted the exam in November 2022, the CFA institute will most likely declare the result in January 2023.

You will receive a result of “pass” or “fail” on your registered Email Id along with information on your topic-level performance. (Candidates who pass Level III will not receive detailed results.) Candidates can use the CFA Institute exam performance guide to help them interpret their results report. CFA Institute will notify you when your official exam results are available.

The average training fees for the CFA course Level 2 can range from INR 12,000 to INR 90,000 depending on whether you choose online or classroom mode of learning.

The average salary of a CFA in India is ₹9 lakhs per annum. CFA Salary in India for freshers is around ₹50,000 per month in cities like Mumbai, Gurgaon, and Hyderabad. They receive bonus and variable pay in addition to the basic salary; the CFA starting salary in India, including bonus and variable pay, can be approximately ₹ 5 lakhs, but it can go up to ₹15 lakhs.
