A step by step roadmap to qualify CFP certification.

A. Regular Mode

Step 1: It is important to have a roadmap and fix a timeline to become a CFP.

Usually, you can fix a timeline of 6–10 months to become a CFP. The Sanjivini to become a CFP is your disciplinary approach.

Step 2: Introduction to financial planning: Though there is no separate paper of introduction to financial planning, it is one of the most important modules of CFP. Nearly 20%–30% weightage of this module is given in all other modules. The most important chapter of this module is “Financial Planning Mathematics”. This chapter is given high weightage in all other modules.

Time Line: 1 Month–1.5 Months

Step 3: After preparing for the first module, you have to start preparing for any one of the four modules based on your preference. For instance, in case you are a chartered accountant and comfortable with taxation, then tax and estate planning can be your first module, or if you are an insurance adviser, then risk management and insurance planning can be your first exam. In the same way, you can choose the second, third and fourth exams.

Time Line: 1 Month–1.5 Months per Module

Step 4: Congrats you have cleared four modules! Now you have to take one more step to become a CFPCM. Advance financial planning or final exam is the most difficult exam. This exam requires the in-depth understanding of all the five modules and financial planning mathematics. B. Challenge Status
